Obiettivi formativi
Il laboratorio contribuisce alla conoscenza approfondita della storia e della critica dell’espressione letteraria in una dimensione comparativa, come previsto dagli obiettivi formativi specifici del corso di laurea magistrale in Culture moderne comparate. In particolare mira ad approfondire la capacità critica di interpretare saggi teorici anche per acquisire e discutere impostazioni metodologiche utili per l’elaborazione della tesi di laurea magistrale.
The workshop contributes to an in-depth knowledge of the history and criticism of literary expression in a comparative dimension, as envisaged by the specific educational objectives of the Master's degree course in Comparative Modern Cultures. In particular, it aims to deepen the critical capacity to interpret theoretical essays also in order to acquire and discuss methodological approaches useful for the elaboration of the Master's thesis.

Al termine del laboratorio gli studenti dovranno essere in grado di
1) esporre sinteticamente le caratteristiche principali dei testi di critica e teoria letteraria;
2) interpretare e commentare analiticamente i testi previsti per l’esame;
3) presentare in modo autonomo e pertinente anche testi analoghi non presenti nel programma.
At the end of the workshop students should be able to
1) briefly explain the main features of texts of literary criticism and theory;
2) interpret and comment analytically on the texts included in the examination;
3) autonomously and pertinently present similar texts not included in the programme.

Modalità di insegnamento
Le prime due parti saranno costituite da lezioni frontali dei due docenti e da discussioni con i/le partecipanti al corso. La terza parte prevede principalmente l’esposizione di relazioni da parte dei/delle partecipanti, con dibattito in aula.
Nel caso in cui la situazione sanitaria impedisca la presenza in aula di tutte/i le studentesse e gli studenti, sarà attivata anche la possibilità di partecipare agli incontri a distanza, in diretta.
The first two parts will consist of lectures by the two lecturers and discussions with the course participants. The third part will mainly consist of lectures by the participants, with discussion in the classroom.
If the health situation prevents the presence of all the students in the classroom, the possibility of participating in the meetings at a distance, live, will also be activated.

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento
L’apprendimento sarà verificato in parte già durante l’insegnamento, tramite la presentazione orale di relazioni e la partecipazione attiva alle discussioni; poi con la consegna di una prova scritta, legata ai temi affrontati nel laboratorio, da concordare con i docenti.
Learning will be tested partly during the course, through the oral presentation of papers and active participation in discussions; then through the submission of a written essay, related to the topics addressed in the workshop, to be agreed with the teachers.

La cognizione del romanzo
Il laboratorio è suddiviso in tre parti (di 6 ore ciascuna). La prima offre una ricognizione delle teorie del romanzo tra Sette e Ottocento, con lettura di testi esemplari. La seconda presenta la “scienza delle opere” di Pierre Bourdieu, sempre con un’attenzione specifica all’interpretazione del romanzo, con letture dalle Regole dell’arte. La terza parte prevede una discussione comune sui testi critici che saranno esaminati e sulle relazioni presentate da studenti e studentesse.The experience of the novel
The workshop is divided into three parts (6 hours each). The first offers a survey of the theories of the novel between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, with the reading of exemplary texts. The second presents Pierre Bourdieu's "science of works", again with a specific focus on the interpretation of the novel, with readings from Les règles de l'art. The third part includes a common discussion on the critical texts that will be examined during the course and on the papers presented by the students.
