Obiettivi formativi
Come oggetto centrale dell'analisi viene scelto un capolavoro indiscusso del Novecento, Wozzeck di Alban Berg (1925), a sua volta basato sul testo di Georg Büchner (1837): si prenderanno in esame i rapporti fra il testo originale e l'intonazione fatta da Berg direttamente sulle parole di Büchner, senza mediazione librettistica; la scelta di integrare le forme strumentali dentro la struttura teatrale; il tipo di vocalità e di strumentazione; la ricezione del lavoro, pietra miliare dell'intero Novecento; i suoi legami con altri lavori di Berg, di cui verrà considerato anche l'interesse, tipico delle avanguardie novecentesche, per la forma breve.
The main focus of the analysis is an undisputed masterpiece of the 20th century, Wozzeck by Alban Berg (1925), based on a text by Georg Büchner (1837): the relationship between the original text and the intonation made by Berg directly on Büchner's words, without librettistic mediation; the choice of integrating instrumental forms into the theatrical structure; the type of vocality and instrumentation; the reception of the work, a milestone of the entire 20th century; its links with other works by Berg, of which will be considered. also the interest, typical of the avant-garde of the twentieth century, for the short form.

Conoscenza del panorama culturale e musicale del primo Novecento: il corso intende analizzare le ragioni del rinnovamento del linguaggio compositivo e delle forme del teatro musicale, inserendole nel contesto del tempo e mostrandone i legami con le altre forme artistiche, in particolare poetiche e letterarie.
Knowledge of the cultural and musical landscape of the early twentieth century: the course aims to analyse the reasons for the renewal of compositional language and forms of musical theatre, placing them in the context of time and showing their links with other artistic forms, particularly poetic and literary.

Oral examination (with mark in thirtieth) about the themes of the course and the most important arguments of the compulsory bibliography. Questions are always aimed at stimulating an articulated and documented discussion.
